|Mother Nature prefers men, or partners

wtf? that's sexist!
A little background: I work in a male-dominated field; approximately 85% of the people I work with are male. I'm a distance runner in my spare time and a few people I work with, such as my boss, also like to do trail runs so were were thinking of creating a relay team for an upcoming 50 mile race. I went online to check out the length of the legs and found this disclaimer:|
"Team positions and events which include isolated legs are marked with yellow. Although we consider them to be safe, these legs might be candidates for males or teammates participating in pairs."
I find this ludicrous that an isolated leg might be better suited for a runner of any specific gender. Are men as good as two people? I could understand if it was a backcountry leg you might not want to run alone, just like you really shouldn't go backcountry skiing alone.
